MARD Bead Color Codes: A Guide to the 221-Color Reference
Understand what BeadColor’s MARD 221 codes mean, why codes differ between brands and how to verify screen colors against your own beads.
Are MARD color codes the same as official Perler bead colors?
No. BeadColor provides a MARD 221-color screen reference for planning and searching MARD codes. It is not an official Perler palette or a universal conversion chart between bead brands. Codes from different manufacturers should stay separate, and screen swatches may not match physical beads. Check the current chart and packaging from your bead supplier, then compare your chosen shades in daylight before buying or placing a large number of beads.

Keep one code system per project
A bead code identifies a shade inside a manufacturer or seller’s own range. The same-looking code on another brand’s bag may refer to a different color. Label storage boxes with the codes from your actual packaging and avoid mixing charts partway through a project.
Use the MARD reference accurately
BeadColor includes a MARD 221-color screen reference with searchable codes and color families. It helps you plan a materials list; it is not an official Perler palette or a promise that a monitor will match a fused bead. Consult the current chart from your bead supplier when ordering.
Compare shades before buying
Open the color chart and narrow by code or family, then compare the chosen colors with physical beads in daylight. Pay special attention to near-white, cream and skin-tone shades that can look alike on a display. Buy enough of a key shade from the same product line for the entire piece.
Check the used-color list
After converting or editing, inspect the bead counts by code. Exclude unavailable MARD shades in Setup or replace a code in the editor before printing. If you own another brand, import its palette and use its codes instead of treating MARD numbers as a universal conversion table.
